Daughter, Elderly Mom Pistol-Whipped in Northeast Philly Home Invasion

Officials say a 56-year-old woman and her 76-year-old mother are hospitalized after they were assaulted during a home invasion in Philadelphia's Lawncrest section.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when two men forced the daughter inside their Dorcas Street home at gunpoint.

Chief Inspector Scott Small says the thieves hit the woman in the face with the gun and demanded money while forcing her onto the kitchen floor.

Small says the woman's mother was hit in the head several times with the gun when she responded to the commotion in the kitchen.

The daughter suffered a wrist injury and a cut on her lip. Her mother required stitches.

The robbers ransacked the second floor of the home but police say it's not clear what was taken.
