Deadly Hit-&-Run in Northeast Philadelphia

A hit-and-run driver killed a man in Northeast Philadelphia overnight.

The driver of a white Chevrolet Impala struck the 51-year-old man around 1:35 a.m. Sunday at Castor and Bleigh avenues in Northeast Philadelphia, said Philadelphia Police accident investigators.

The victim died shortly after 4 a.m. at Aria Torresdale Hospital, said police.

After the crash, the driver of the Chevy turned east on Shelmire Avenue before ditching the car at Shelmire and Horrocks Street, said Philadelphia Police.

Investigators didn't immediately reveal an identification for either the victim or suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.

The deadly crash wasn’t far from where a man ran down someone trying to rob him in a bank parking lot last week. That crash was originally called a hit-and-run.
