Woman Fights for Life After Being Attacked, Cut With Beer Bottle in Northeast Philadelphia Bar

A woman is fighting for her life after police say another woman attacked her with a broken beer bottle in a Northeast Philadelphia bar early Sunday.

Police said the 37-year-old victim was inside a tavern on Frankford Avenue near Cottman in Holmesburg shortly before 2 a.m. She was dancing with another bar patron when police say her attacker, whom she knows, approached her and hit her in the head with a beer bottle.

The other woman then continued to hit and cut the victim with the beer bottle, leaving severe cuts on her face and neck, police said. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she had to undergo emergency surgery for her injuries, according to investigators.

The victim remained in critical condition on Sunday. Police said they have not yet made an arrest but believe they know who the attacker is.
