Teen Shot in Head, Man Shot 8 Times in Legs in North Philly

Nearly 2 dozen shots fired along North Park Avenue in North Philadelphia, leaving a teenager and man hurt

A teenager is fighting for his life after being shot while riding his bike in North Philadelphia overnight.

Gunfire rang out around North Park Avenue and Wishart Street — less than a block from North Broad Street — around 12:20 a.m. Monday.

Bullets struck a 14-year-old boy, who had pulled up to the intersection a few minutes earlier, and a 25-year-old man, Philadelphia police said.

The boy was unresponsive after a bullet went through his head, police said. He was undergoing surgery at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

The man was stable at a hospital despite being struck eight times in the legs, police said.

It is possible more than one person fired as bullet casings, about 20 in total, were found on both sides of the street, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

Police hoped surveillance video could help them learn more about a man dressed in all black who was spotted fleeing the scene on foot.

Police are set to reveal more details at a 2 p.m. news conference.
