No-Pants Rapist Suspected of Crossing the Border

Last seen in Dallas, authorities believe Alberto Navarrete Suarez is now in Mexico

The man who allegedly raped a woman in Center City and ran away without his pants may have escaped over the border to his home country of Mexico by now, police say.

Wanted on charges of rape and attempted murder, Alberto Isaac Navarrete Suarez was last seen in the Dallas, Texas, area Saturday, police say. Based on how close the sighting was to the border, authorities believe he may have made it back into Mexico.

A local and federal manhunt for Suarez began after he allegedly choked and raped a 22-year-old woman at 8th and Race streets while she was waiting for the bus Sunday Aug. 29.

Police say that the rape and choking was so violent they have no doubt Suarez would have killed the woman if passerby hadn’t heard her screams.

Suarez ran away from the crime scene in his underwear when 911 calls by witnesses led to police sirens. The pants he left behind has a fake ID in the pocket, which led authorities to Suarez’ true indentity.

Suarez, also known as Dario Gomez Lopez, worked odd jobs and had a last known address of 2618 S. 7th Street in Philadelphia, police say.
