Man Apologizes to Judge for Online Comment: DA

No charges to be filed over online comments

A Pennsylvania prosecutor says he won't charge a man who made anonymous comments on a newspaper's website that a judge found threatening.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said Monday he won't file charges against George Charles because he apologized to Judge Michael Koury about his comments.

Charles allegedly made his comments under The Morning Call of Allentown's online story about Koury convicting a defendant after a jury cleared her on a more serious drunken-driving charge.

Charles wrote that Koury needed to “get clipped” and could meet him behind the courthouse for “justice.”

Koury had felt threatened by the comments but accepted Charles' apology, Morganelli said.

Charles says he regrets his comments and has learned from the experience.
