Judge Denies Bail for Pennsylvania Mom Accused of Trying to Kill Kids With Car Exhaust

A mother accused of trying to kill herself and her two young children by piping vehicle exhaust into her car requested bail on Tuesday, but a Pennsylvania judge has denied her request.

The Citizens' Voice reports the judge on Tuesday denied Melissa Ann Scholl's request to be released into a friend's custody.

Scholl's attorney had said she isn't a flight risk and has no psychological disorders.

Scholl's 7-year-old son told police she told him and his 5-year-old sister to "die for something special" before allegedly running a hose from her exhaust pipe into her car in a parking lot in December.

Police say a man pulled the hose from the car.

Scholl is charged with attempted homicide. Scholl's attorney has said prosecutors have only proved that Scholl tried to kill herself.
