SUV Takes Out Hydrant, House Before Driver Flees

An out-of-control SUV slammed into a Philadelphia home overnight and the driver was nowhere to be found.

The silver Mitsubishi jumped the curb along N 16th Street at W Cayuga Street in the Nicetown section of the city around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Philadelphia Police investigating the crash told NBC10.com that the SUV crashed into a chain link fence before crossing 16th Street, taking out a fire hydrant and slamming into a house.

The impact of the wreck knocked some bricks off the home.

Luckily no one in the home was hurt.

After the crash, the driver fled the scene, according to investigators.

Licenses and Inspections would be out later in the day to investigate the structural integrity of the building, according to police.
