Newtown Gun Control Advocates Make Pit Stop in NJ

Advocates of tougher gun control measures have made a pit stop in northern New Jersey during their third annual bike ride from Newtown, Connecticut to Washington.

The riders rolled into Morristown on Sunday and took part in a rally with some community members.

The speakers there included Mayor Timothy Dougherty and Maura Sherlach Schwartz, whose mother was among the 26 people killed in the December 2012 shooting at Newtown's Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The 26 cyclists are drawing attention to their campaign for measures including requiring all gun sales to be subject to a background check and a ban on high-capacity magazines.

They started their 400-mile ride Saturday and expect it will take four days to complete.

The ride will end at the steps of the Capitol in Washington.
