Police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a popular local newspaper salesman.

Newspaper Vendor Shot and Killed

On Monday around 4 a.m., police were called to an apartment complex on the 2200 block of West Lehigh Avenue. When they arrived they say they found Aamar Stanley, 63, inside his North Philadelphia Apartment.

Police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a popular local newspaper salesman.

On Monday around 4 a.m., police were called to an apartment complex on the 2200 block of West Lehigh Avenue. When they arrived they say they found Aamar Stanley, 63, inside his North Philadelphia Apartment. Investigators say Stanley had been shot three times. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Friends and family say Stanley was popular and well liked in the neighborhood where he sold newspapers on the street.

“I’m upset, I’m hurt,” said Aself Stanley, Aamar’s son. “I found out through the news. My mom called me and told me to turn on the news.”

Police have not yet released information on any suspects. No arrests have been made. If you have any information on this incident, please call Philadelphia Police.
