Newseum to Display Items From Ferguson Protests

The Newseum is displaying items from the protests and unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, as an extension of the Washington museum's exhibit about civil rights.

The museum about journalism and the First Amendment plans to display items including a press pass, a reporter's notebook and rubber pellets from a stun grenade used by police. The items will go on display beginning Friday as an extension of the exhibit ``Make Some Noise: Students and the Civil Rights Movement.''

The Newseum's online managing editor traveled to Ferguson to collect items shortly before the Nov. 24 grand jury decision not to indict a police officer in the death of an unarmed black teenager. Protests erupted shortly after the decision.

The Newseum also acquired homemade t-shirts, posters and some African-American weekly newspapers covering the protests.
