CAUGHT ON CAM: Man Steals Christmas Gifts From Home: Homeowner

A Newark, Delaware woman’s surveillance camera came in handy when it captured a man allegedly stealing her Christmas gifts from her front door moments after they were delivered.

Jessica, who did not want her last name revealed, told NBC10 she recently purchased the gifts and tracked them. On the day she knew they were delivered she returned to her home in Newark’s Barrington neighborhood but didn't see them at her door.

Jessica then checked her home surveillance camera. The video shows a UPS delivery driver dropping the packages off in front of her home. Moments later, a tan Hyundai with South Carolina tags moves into her driveway. A man in a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey then comes out, grabs the packages and gets back into the car which then drives off.

“A pure invasion of privacy,” Jessica said. “I mean if they’re tailing a UPS truck they clearly have a mission. And they’re trying to get as much as they can.”

Police later recovered Jessica’s gifts but are still searching for the man in the video. Jessica says the incident has taught her a valuable lesson.

“I look at this as an opportunity for us to lose a couple hundred dollars’ worth of goods to put the awareness out there to our local community and our neighbors to say this can happen anywhere,” she said.

If you have any information on the man in the video, please call New Castle County Police.
