New Jersey Community Hit by 2nd Small Earthquake This Week

This is the second small earthquake in the Morristown area this week.

Federal officials say another small earthquake has struck in a New Jersey community that had a similar tremor earlier this week.

The U.S. Geological Survey says it recorded the 1.0 magnitude quake around 8:05 a.m. Saturday in the area of Morristown. It did not cause any damage or injuries.

Officials say earthquakes with a magnitude between 1.0 and 3.0 aren't typically felt by residents.

This is the second small earthquake in the area this week. A 1.5 magnitude quake was reported Monday night.
