Members of the Bergen County Sheriff's Office are in mourning after one of their own collapsed and died during a charity basketball game.
Lt. Brian Beutel was 47 years old.
Beutel was participating in Wednesday night's Battle of the Blue fundraiser.
Capt. Joseph Hornyak tells The Record newspaper the married father of five daughters was a 15-year veteran of the corrections department and had transferred to the sheriff's office in 2002. Beutel was promoted to lieutenant in 2013.
