New Jersey Man Charged After Crash Kills Teacher

A New Jersey man has been charged with vehicular homicide after authorities say he fatally struck a jogger, before his truck overturned and his friend in the passenger seat was killed.

Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi announced charges Friday against 29-year-old Patrick Miller, of New Hanover, following the result of toxicology tests. He was previously charged with driving while intoxicated and drug possession after investigators found marijuana in the truck.

Investigators say the truck crossed the center line and struck 29-year-old Allison McGinnis, of Southampton, last August. The teacher was running on the shoulder of Route 206 in Southampton.

The truck then hit several trees and overturned, partially ejecting David Eldridge. The 31-year-old was crushed by the truck.

Miller has been released on $150,000 bail. His attorney didn't immediately return a phone message seeking comment.
