A New Jersey man is accused of stabbing his neighbor to death outside his home.

Jeffrey Vasquez-Calderon, 37, of East Windsor, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

On Wednesday around 8:30 a.m., police responded to the home of Luis Sanchez on Bennington Drive in East Windsor. When they arrived they found Sanchez on the back patio area of the home suffering from stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Sanchez and Vasquez-Calderon were acquaintances who both lived on the first block of Bennington Drive. Prior to Sanchez’s death, the two men left a nearby liquor store and lounge together, according to officials. After they both returned to Sanchez’s home, Vasquez-Calderon allegedly stabbed him several times with a knife.

Vasquez-Calderon was arrested Friday and is currently behind held in Essex County on an ICE detainer, officials said. He will eventually be brought to Mercer County and the prosecutor’s office will file a motion to have him detained pending trial.
