National Children's Museum to Give Away Some Art

As the National Children Museum prepares to move out of National Harbor in Maryland to return to the District of Columbia, the museum plans to give away some sculptures to other U.S. museums.

The museum holds numerous mixed-media sculptures by international artist Nek Chand.

The sculptures were used for the museum's entrance when it was located on H Street in northeast Washington until that facility closed in 2004. The museum reopened two years ago in National Harbor but announced last week it will return to the District next year.

The museum said Tuesday that it will work with the Association of Children's Museums to find new homes for some sculptures and will retain some pieces.
