An Egg Harbor Township woman was charged with child endangerment after she allegedly beat a 17-day-old baby.
Police were called to the 5000 block of Ridge Avenue around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a woman hitting a baby girl outside a home. Investigators say a driver passing by was able to remove the infant from Tiatiana Vorobev, 29, before police arrived.
Vorobev, who was naked when police arrived, began flailing her body and resisting arrest. Police say Vorobev hit one of the officers before she was taken into custody.
The child was taken to DuPont Children’s Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Vorobev was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division for psychiatric evaluation.
Vorobev will be held on $75,000 bail pending her release from the hospital. She has been charged with second degree aggravated assault, second degree engendering the welfare of a child, fourth degree child abuse, fourth degree aggravated assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest.
