A southern New Jersey man who fell asleep naked in another person's car is now facing charges after he allegedly hit and kicked a police officer who tried to roust him.

Toms River police tell the Asbury Park Press that 32-year-old township resident Michael Harris is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal trespass.

Authorities say that when officers were finally able to roust Harris early Sunday, he allegedly told them to leave him alone. After being told the car wasn't his, authorities say Harris repeatedly hit and kicked an officer before being subdued.

The officer was treated at a hospital for minor arm and hand injuries.

A telephone number for Harris could not be located, and it wasn't known if he had retained an attorney.
