Naked Man Attacks Woman in NE Philly Park

Woman says she was ambushed by man as she walked through the park

A neighborhood is on edge after a naked man attacks a woman walking through a local park.

The attack happened in Pennypack Park in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia around 12:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The woman, who's in her 40s, told police she was walking towards the Frankford Avenue Bridge, when the naked man jumped out of the woods, knocked her down and tried to sexually assault her.

The woman managed to get away and flagged down a school district police officer. Her nude assailant took off back into the park.

People who live in the area want the guy caught right away.

"We moved up to this area because it was a nicer area and it's progressively getting worse. It gets to the point where I don't want to go out at night," resident Bonnie Schultze said.

There were two similar attacks in the park last year. Investigators are looking into whether the attacks are connected.
