Naked Fairmount Park Gunman Turns Up in Retirement Home Lobby, Police Say

A naked man armed with a gun caused tense moments in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park late Sunday night.

Police received multiple 911 calls around 9:20 a.m. regarding someone firing shots along Belmont Avenue near Belmont Mansion Drive in the city’s Wynnefield Heights neighborhood, investigators said.

No one was struck in the shooting but police got a description of the gunman as standing around 6-feet tall and fleeing into the woods.

Police continued to search for the naked gunman for a couple hours until they got a call from Simpson House on Belmont Avenue that a naked man had come into the lobby of the retirement home community claiming he was just robbed.

Police quickly identified the naked man in the lobby as the suspected gunman from nearby.

They could be seen leading the man, wrapped in a sheet, being led out of the building. They took the man to the hospital for observation.

The man has yet to be charged and isn’t being named.
