Tenants of an Atlantic City apartment building are sweltering in the heat.

Residents of The View say the building’s central air conditioning system hasn't worked since last year.  And the temperature soared into the 90s in Atlantic City on Thursday. Inside the building, it’s even worse.

“About 105 degrees inside with the fans,” said resident Valerie Eldridge.

About half the building’s 350 units are occupied. Many of the building’s residents are senior citizens in wheelchairs.

The owners of The View filed for bankruptcy protection in October. A court-appointed trustee has been overseeing the building for nearly a month.

“I think they’re very negligent in not having this air up and running,” said resident Bonnie Pasquale.

The trustee, Karen Gilman, said repairs and maintenance supposedly performed on the air conditioning system before she took control were insufficient and the system has since undergone another $6000 in repairs.

In a statement, Gilman said she’s greatly concerned with the health, safety, and welfare of the tenants and has acted expeditiously to protect those interests.
