NJ Woman Burned in Manhole Blast

A manhole explosion left a woman in northern New Jersey with minor burns.

JCP&L says workers were restoring power lost during Hurricane Irene when an underground switch failed on James Street in Morristown Wednesday.

Kevin London told The Daily Record of Parsippany he heard “a really loud” bang then saw fire and smoke blowing out of the exposed manhole.

Police say a woman who had been driving by was taken to Morristown Medical Center with minor burns from hot exhaust.
