New Jersey Transit's board has voted to pay $6.5 million to settle a lawsuit from a woman who had to have her leg amputated after she was hit by a bus.
NJ.com reported that the board approved the settlement for 45-year-old Elba Galeno unanimously last week.
Galeno was hit by the bus in July 2012 in Paterson. The bus knocked Galeno forward and then trapped her underneath for an extended period when it backed up.
Her attorney, John O'Dwyer, says she suffered injuries to both of her legs and had to have her right leg amputated.
NJ Transit says that the final agreement hasn't reached court yet and declined to comment.
