NJ Transit Service Resumes Following Fire, Trespasser on Tracks

Service has been restored on two NJ Transit train lines Wednesday morning following a pair of separate incidents earlier in the morning.

The Pascack Valley line was suspended in both directions from Spring Valley to Hoboken for about three hours because of a fire on a high-tension utility line and police and fire department activity between River Edge and Oradell, NJ Transit said.

Service on the line resumed shortly before 9 a.m. and was expected to be on or close to schedule for the rest of the morning, NJ transit says.

Service on the Morris and Essex line was also suspended after a man stepped in front of a train just before 7 a.m. No one onboard was injured, but trains weren't running between Hackettstown and Denville until about 9 a.m.

Trains are running along the line but delays of 30 to 40 minutes should be expected, NJ Transit said.
