A New Jersey Transit bus and a car collided in New Jersey Thursday evening, authorities say, sparking a car fire that led to long delays for some drivers heading to the Lincoln Tunnel.
The Port Authority says the bus and the car collided on John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Route 3 at about 5:45 p.m., causing the car to burst into flames.
There were no passengers inside the bus, but the four people in the car were hurt and taken to Hoboken Medical Center, authorities say. Two of them, who were in the back seat, are in serious but stable condition. The driver and front seat passenger suffered minor injuries.
The fire was under control by 6 p.m., and the road was reopened by 6:30 p.m., though delays persisted into the evening.
The driver of the car received a summons for reckless driving, according to the Port Authority.
