New Jersey Transit says passenger congestion at the rail station for MetLife Stadium has thinned significantly as Super Bowl fans continue to head home from the big game.
NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says 28,000 passengers rode trains from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium. That broke the previous record of 22,000 that was set for the U2 concert in 2009.
But after Sunday's game, fans converged on the rail station for the return trip, clogging the platform as trains loaded and left when full.
NJ Transit said the crowds were being orderly and passengers were being moved out in a ``safe and efficient'' manner. Dozens of buses were later brought in to help shuffle fans out of the area and ease the congestion.
