NJ Town Welcomes Home Softball Champions

They are the girls of summer.

Robbinsville turned out on Thursday to welcome home the team that won the Little League Softball World Series.

Their bus was given a police escort.

"It feels great," 12-year-old catcher Shea Walsh told the Times of Trenton.

The Robbinsville team beat Bossier City, Louisiana, 4-1 after six straight victories in the tournament in Portland, Oregon. The win capped a 22-0 record.

"It just shows how much hard work we put into this and how much it paid off," Walsh said. "It was really cool knowing that our whole town was supporting us."

Coach Scott Veisz says they are a special group of girls who simply love to play.
