NJ State Troopers Hit and Dragged By Car

Aggravated assault charges have been filed against a man who allegedly hit and dragged two New Jersey state troopers while fleeing a traffic stop.

The troopers, whose names were not released, sustained minor injuries and were taken to Cape May Regional Hospital, where they were treated and released.

State police Detective Brian Polite said the incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. Saturday in Woodbine, when the troopers stopped 28-year-old Jeffrey May of Dennis Township and tried to arrest him.

But May fled in his pickup truck and hit the troopers while driving off, dragging them a short distance, Polite said. May later turned himself in and was being held Sunday at the Cape May County Jail on $25,000 bail.

Authorities would not say what spurred the traffic stop, and did not know if May had retained a lawyer.
