NJ Soldier Found Dead at Fort Hood

    Sgt. Jose Joaquin Suarez of Millville, N.J.

    The death of Sgt. Jose Joaquin Suarez, 24, of Millville, N.J., is under investigation in Fort Hood, Texas.

    Sgt. Suarez died the day after Christmas after he was discovered unresponsive inside his barracks room.

    He had been on active-duty as an information systems operator-analyst since June of 2006 and had been working at Fort Hood since January of 2011.

    Sgt. Suarez served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2007 to 2008 and Operation Enduring Freedom from December 2011 to 2012.

    His long list of awards includes two Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and a NATO medal.
