NJ Plane Missing Since Tuesday Found Crashed

A single-engine plane that took off from a New Jersey airport on Tuesday and was reported missing two days later has been found crashed nearby.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirms the discovery of the crash site and is investigating.

The Federal Aviation Administration says local authorities will release the number of people on board the plane and their conditions. The Bedminster Township police department hasn't returned a message seeking comment.

FAA spokeswoman Arlene Salac says the Lake LA-4-250 left Somerset Airport in North Jersey on Tuesday night but wasn't reported missing until Thursday morning and was found Thursday afternoon. She won't provide information about what led to it being reported missing.

Airport manager Steve Parker says the plane was found in a wooded area around the airport. Bedmister Township is 33 miles east of Easton, Pennyslvania.
