NJ Men Arrested for Downloading Child Porn

High school teacher among those charged

A crackdown on Internet crimes in New Jersey has led to the arrest of eight Gloucester County men, one of which is a New Jersey high school teacher.

New Jersey Attorney General Ann Milgram and Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton announced the arrests Thursday afternoon at a press conference in Woodbury, NJ.

The men were arrested and charged with possession and distribution of child pornography. If convicted, the suspects face five to ten years in prison.

James Atkinson, a teacher at West Deptford High School, has been suspended from his job.

The adults arrested were:

  • Larry Jordan, 53, of Washington Township, charged with second and fourth degree endangering
  • William E. Wanderer, 61, of Franklinville, charged with second and fourth degree endangering
  • Scott McCord Jr., 19, of Monroe Township, charged with fourth-degree endangering
  • Luis Castellon-Chavez, 28, of Clayton, charged with second and fourth degree endangering
  • Walter Shorter, 48, of Clayton, charged with second and fourth degree endangering
  • Joshua J. Elwell, 23, of Swedesboro, charged with fourth-degree endangering
  • James J. Atkinson III, 49, of Pitman, charged with fourth- degree endangering

15 search warrants were served in all.
