‘NJ Weedman' Headed to Trial in Witness Tampering Case

A New Jersey marijuana advocate is heading to trial after losing his appeal in a witness tampering case.

NJ.com reports Ed Forchion lost his appeal on Wednesday. Forchion faces drug and witness tampering charges.

A judge denied the request, saying the days Forchion has been detained don't count toward the 180-day speedy trial limit because motions in the case were being decided during that period.

The changes against Forchion stem from a raid narcotics officers executed at his Trenton eatery, NJ Weedman's Joint. Forchion streamed his April arrest live on Facebook and has denied the charges.

Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Stephanie Katz has argued Forchion was putting an informant at risk by spreading his name on social media.

Forchion says the trial may not be fair but he is ready.
