A man has admitted he stole a pork tenderloin from a northern New Jersey supermarket because he wanted to make a special dinner for his son.
The Daily Record of Parsippany reports 54-year-old James Stortz of Morristown pleaded guilty to shoplifting and simple assault.
Authorities say Stortz left a Cedar Knolls supermarket without paying $33 for the pork loin and water flavor enhancers.
Stortz also acknowledged shoving a store owner when he was stopped from leaving the supermarket. He was caught soon after he fled on his bicycle.
Stortz said during his plea he took the meat to have a nice dinner with his son who was home from college.
Stortz has been held in the Morris County Jail on $50,000 bail.
