NJ Man Dies in Snowmobile Crash

Authorities say a 50-year-old New Jersey man snowmobiling with two friends struck a tree on the edge of a trail in Farmington, Maine and died.

The Maine Warden Service said that Richard Keith Horton, of Delran, N.J., was operating a borrowed snowmobile when the accident happened around 11 a.m. Sunday.

The Warden Service says that neither speed nor alcohol were a factor. They blamed operator inexperience for the crash. Horton was pronounced dead on the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.

The crash was the third snowmobile fatality of the season in Maine.
