NJ Assemblyman Announces Resignation

Democrat Matthew Milam's resignation will be effective immediately

A New Jersey state assemblyman says he's resigning from office immediately.

Democrat Matthew Milam made the announcement Thursday to a group of supporters in Vineland, saying the demands of his bulk hauling business have grown too cumbersome to continue to serve.

The announcement was first reported by the South Jersey Times.

He is to be replaced by Bob Andrzejczak, of Middle Township. Andrzejczak also intends to run for a full term to represent the First Legislative District, which includes all of Cape May County and parts of Cumberland and Atlantic Counties.

Milam first joined the Assembly in 2008.
