Judge Referees Disputes in Paterno Family-NCAA Lawsuit

Lawyers for the family of former Penn State coach Joe Paterno and the NCAA are expected in court, where a judge will try to work out disputes over what information they must exchange before their civil case goes to trial.

The hearing Friday at a courthouse near State College, Pennsylvania, will let lawyers make arguments about the discovery process.

The lawsuit pits Paterno's estate, his son Jay Paterno and former Nittany Lions assistant coach Bill Kenny against college sports' governing body, NCAA president Mark Emmert and former chairman Ed Ray, president of Oregon State University.

Also this week, lawyers for former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky filed a lengthy new appeal under the state's Post Conviction Relief Act. Sandusky is serving up to 60 years for child sexual abuse.
