A mushroom company’s payroll manager stole thousands of dollars by creating fictitious employee profile, said police in Chester County.
New Garden Township Police took Deseon Eggleston into custody during a routine traffic after issuing an arrest warrant stop last week.
The 33-year-old Downingtown resident did payroll for Modern Mushroom, Inc. located on Newark Road in Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania. Over a period of time from August to December, Eggleston deposited more than $18,000 from the company into his personal bank account after he set up a false employee account along with supporting documents, said investigators.
The company discovered the alleged theft during an internal audit, said police.
Eggleston posted $25,000 bail as he awaited a preliminary hearing next month.
