A state judge has refused to lower the bail set for a man charged in a deadly daytime shooting at the Jersey Shore earlier this year.
During a court hearing Thursday, Monmouth County prosecutors said the $1.2 million cash bail set for Jacquil Jones of Farmingdale was proper. They called the incident a "brazen, broad daylight shooting".
Mark Fonte, a lawyer who represented Jones at the hearing, declined comment on the judge's decision.
The 25-year-old Jones faces murder and weapons charges in the April 10 slaying of 28-year-old Jermaine Huntley, who was shot in the back outside a home in Asbury Park.
A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed, but prosecutors have said it did not appear to be a random incident.
