Motorcyclist Tries to Run Over Officer: Police

A police officer is recovering after investigators say he was intentionally struck by a motorcycle rider.

The officer was attempting to stop the suspect near 4th and South Street Saturday night for an unknown violation. Suddenly, police say, the suspect drove his motorcycle at the officer in an attempt to run him over.

The unidentified officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Investigators say a person was taken into custody in relation to the incident. They have not yet revealed the person’s identity or the specific charges.
