Shopping Moms Leave Kids in Car

The four children were not injured

Two mothers were charged with child endangerment Friday evening after leaving their children, ages two through nine, in a car while they were shopping.

State troopers were called to Boscov's parking lot at Concord Mall in Wilmington at approximately 5:43 p.m., where the person who called brought them to the car with the four children.

The troopers said they tried for about an hour to contact the two moms, Latasha Tynes-Kirton of Darby, Pa., and Beverly Smith of Clifton Heights, Pa., until one of them finally answered.

Tynes-Kirton, the 32-year-old mother of the six-year-old, seven-year-old and nine-year-old boys left in the vehicle, and Smith, the 24-year-old mother of the two-year old girl left in the vehicle, were released on bail until trial.

The court has ordered that the children be put in the care of a family member.
