Pennsylvania Mother Dies After Allegedly Shooting Son, 11, Then Self: Coroner

A Central Pennsylvania woman, said by police to have shot her 11-year-old son before turning the weapon on herself, has died.

The York County coroner's office said 36-year-old Jennifer Liszewski died shortly after 3 a.m. Monday at York Hospital.

Coroner Pam Gay said the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Her injured son was flown to Hershey Medical Center, where police said he is "doing better."

Detective William Shafer of the Southern Regional Police force told the York Dispatch that the child is "showing good signs of improvement."

Authorities said a 14-year-old boy was also in the New Freedom home at the time of the shooting early Wednesday but wasn't hurt and called 911.
