Mom Who Killed Kids Found Dead in Canyon

Lancaster County mom who was released on insanity plea found dead in Arizona.

A Pennsylvania woman who killed her two sons in 2004, was found dead at the bottom of a canyon in Arizona, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Lancaster County native Meghan Lippiatt, 35, was accused of suffocating her 4-month-old son, Miles, and drowning her 2-year-old son, Silas, but was found not guilty due to reason of insanity, according to the Inquirer.

A judge agreed to release Lippiatt in 2007 on the insanity plea, following a three-year sentence in prison and a state psychiatric hospital, reports the Inquirer.

Authorities found Lippiatt's body Saturday in a minivan following what appears to be a fatal plunge into a canyon on an Arizona Indian reservation, according to the Inquirer.

Authorities say the possible suicide happened about two months ago, reports the Inquirer.

The Inquirer reports that Lippiatt was last seen alive in Lancaster County in February.
