More Tires Slashed In City

Police: Nine tires slashed in Oxford Circle

Police say that nine cars had their tires slashed early Sunday morning in the Oxford Circle section of the city.

The incident is the latest in a series of tire-slashing and tire-popping incidents that began last month and have mostly been confined to the Mayfair neighborhood. Since February, investigators say that between 35 and 45 cars have been vandalized. On Saturday, police released surveillance video apparently showing a man slashing nine tires Thursday night at the intersection of Cottman and Rowland Avenue.

Sunday's incident took place on the 1200 block of McKinley Street, about three miles from the 4000 block of Aldine Street, where most of the earlier incidents took place.

According to a witness who spoke to both police and NBC10, the suspect in this case is an Asian female wearing a white hoodie and carrying an unknown instrument walking away from a hissing tire. Another witness says they spotted a male slashing tires at the other end of the street.
