New Jersey Fire Impacts 70 Elderly Residents

Crews helped move about 70 residents to a safe section of a South Jersey assisted living home after fire broke out overnight.

Police officers found smoke in the basement of Brandywine Living at Moorestown Estates along Church Street in Moorestown, New Jersey around 3:40 a.m., said firefighters.

Crews moved residents to another part of the building so that they wouldn’t need to be evacuated outside in the cold, said Moorestown fire district administrator Chris Chesner.

It took less than 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

"Small fire contained to the basement, sprinklers did their job," said Chesner.

"Everyone's OK, no injuries," he added.

No word on what caused the fire.
