Pittsburgh police say a woman posed as her 12-year-old daughter online after a 39-year-old suburban man tried to solicit the sixth-grader for sex on Facebook.
The woman tells WPXI-TV she began posing as her daughter after learning that 39-year-old Richard Stewart, of Ross Township, was asking the girl to meet him for sex in downtown Pittsburgh back in April.
After the woman called police, investigators continued to pose as the girl to get additional evidence against Stewart.
His preliminary hearing on corruption of minors, criminal solicitation and other charges has been scheduled for July 23.
Stewart's defense attorney, Thomas Farrell, didn't immediately return a call for comment Thursday.
