Missing Swimmer's Body Found

Authorities say a body found Saturday in a central New Jersey inlet is that of a swimmer who went missing in rough surf spawned by Hurricane Earl.

Belmar police Capt. Andrew Huisman said fishermen found 20-year-old Pardip Singh on the Avon side of the Shark River Inlet around noon. Belmar police and a Coast Guard crew then recovered the body and brought it to shore.

Singh's family was soon notified and identified the body.

The Carteret man went missing Thursday night, when he went into the ocean at Belmar with a group of friends but did not emerge. His body was found about a half-mile from where he vanished.

A cause of death was not immediately clear. The Monmouth County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy on Sunday.

Another swimmer went missing in about 10 feet of water near Asbury Park on Tuesday. 23-year-old Franky Lezin was swimming about 30 yards out after lifeguards went off duty at the city's Second Avenue beach. His body was found on Thursday.
