“I Had No Clue”

Bonnie Sweeten's husband says he is as stunned as everyone else.

"I had no clue." That's how Bonnie Sweeten's husband summed up the life and times of his runaway wife.

Larry Sweeten told The Today Show's Matt Lauer Friday morning that he was as stunned as anyone about his wife's elaborate abduction hoax and now the new allegations that she may have stolen thousands of dollars from family members and embezelled hundreds of thousands from friends.

"As far as money went, she handled everything," said Larry. He only used his money card and ran any big expenses by his wife before spending. He said she paid all the bills. "I'm just trying to figure out what's going on, like everybody else."

Prosecutors now think Bonnie may have faked an abduction and run off to Disney World because of her financial problems and a troubled marriage with Larry.

"These rumors can't be true," he said. "Sunday, we had a barbeque at our house. We sat around. We were in the hot tub, playing with the baby. It was like a perfect night."

Just two days later, Bonnie fled to Florida with her 9-year old daughter after buying two one-way tickets with a fake ID.
