Woman Injured in Carjacking

A woman was injured in an alleged carjacking in the West Oak Lane section of the city Thursday night.

Initially the woman told police that her two-year-old godson was inside the minivan when it was stolen, however, police say that the victim was so shaken from being roughed up during the carjacking that she forgot that she dropped the child off at his home in Mantua before the crime.

The minivan was carjacked at 11th Street and Medary Avenue around 8:30 p.m., according to police. The suspect allegedly threw the victim to the ground.

The van was found, empty, about 20 minutes later on the 6600-block of North Bouvier Street.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for cuts and bruises.

Police are reviewing surviellance video in the hopes of finding the suspect.
