Delaware Man Arrested for DUI After 2-Vehicle Crash

State Troopers are investigating a two vehicle crash that happened on Thanksgiving night on John J. Williams Highway (SR24) in Delaware.

Investigators say the crash occurred around 6:25 p.m. when Joseph F. Peart Jr. of Millsboro swerved into oncoming traffic, striking a vehicle driven by Barbara B. Hahn of Rehoboth Beach. Peart’s 2000 Durango overturned onto its side and rotated 180 degrees before stopping. Hahn’s Volkswagen Beetle rotated 180 degrees before coming to a stop, according to police.

Peart was taken to Beebe Healthcare where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was then charged with two counts of Vehicular Assault, Driving Under the Influence of a Combination of Alcohol and any Drug, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Reckless Endangering, Driving While Suspended/Revoked, and various other tariff related charges, according to police.

Both Hahn and her passenger were transported to Beebe Healthcare. Her passenger had non-life-threatening injuries, but Hahn’s injuries were undetermined.
